El Cortez is located in downtown Las Vegas.  It is just east of the Fremont Street Experience.  El Cortez uses the Club Cortez players club.  That rewards club is not used at any other casino.

How to Receive the Club Cortez Card

El Cortez Players ClubThe Club Cortez desk is located near the table game pit.  Guests that enter from the front door will want to make an immediate right.  Club Cortez members will need a photo ID.  The minimum age is 21.

Existing players that lose cards will need to return to the Club Cortez rewards center for a reprint.  The table game pit boss can reprint cards during off hours.  Players can also create an account at Elcortezhotelcasino.com.

How to Use the Club Cortez Card

Every video poker and slot at El Cortez has a slot for the Club Cortez card.  Insert the card there.  It will be accepted when the player sees a welcome screen.  Table gamblers and real money keno players should give the card to the dealer or pit boss.

Awards Earned by Game

Slot and video poker players earn 0.2% in either comps or free play.  The exception is on machines that return at least 99%.  Those games only return 0.067%.  Table game players receive comps based on the level of action and length of play.

Please note that blackjack players will receive little or no comps at El Cortez.  That is because the rules of the game make it some of the best blackjack action in Las Vegas.  It is a single deck game that pays 3-2 on a natural.  Players may double down on any two cards.  The dealer hits soft 17.

Status Credits Earned by Game

Status points and tier points are earned in the same manner:

  • Slots: One point for every $1 wagered
  • Video poker less than 99%: One point for every $1 wagered
  • Video poker higher than 99%: One point for every $3 wagered
  • Keno: 10 points for every $1 in tickets purchased
  • Table games: Depends on game, limit and length of play

Other Club Cortez Perks

Players that give any level of action receive mailers.  These often include free play.  It may also have free hotel rooms or food coupons.  Card holders receive discounted parking in the garage.  This typically saves $5 per visit.  Card holders that play or eat during a visit can have parking validated.

How to Redeem Free Slot Play and Comps

Players can redeem free slot play on the Club Cortez kiosk or by going to the rewards desk.  The next step is to go to the machine of choice and transfer the free play.  Coin-operated games do not accept free play, however, points are earned on these.

Comps may be redeemed at the kiosk.  A comp slip will be printed there that may be used at any restaurant.

Club Cortez Return Rate

Slot and video poker machines that return under 99% receive 0.2% free play or comps.  Better video poker machines return 0.67%.  Table game players receive a trivial amount of comps, especially when on blackjack action.

Club Cortez Benefits by Tier

All players receive mailers, 50% off parking, point multiplier days and birthday bonuses.  The real benefits come when climbing tiers.

Sapphire and higher players receive free parking. Sapphire players 30% off at Siegel’s 1941 and 10% off the gift shop when using points.  Ruby players receive 40% off at Siegel’s 1941 and 15% off the gift shop when using points.  That goes up to 50% and 20% respectively for Diamond players, who also receive line passes, a host and private parking.
